Natural Dyeing in April

 Autumn is usually the time we think of dyeing, this year we managed to find lots more to do...

I managed to find Ivy, Quince, Yarrow, and Blackberry to try all in one pot, I added 2 tea bags

and a cotton top... (top mordanted in copper sulphate and citic acid)

 

At our Saturday get together we dyed lots of samples using Silver Dollar gum leaves,

Avocado stones, Birch bark, Grapes, Geranium

Maureen got some lovely colours dyeing her Natural coloured wools...

Mandy and Beth started us all off on a Black Bean spending spree....

This is Mandy's blue, from soaking black beans in water!!!!

and then at our next social day, we had many VARIED black bean colours to share!

 Some of our crafty members took a weekend away,

for Crafting....well, some was done, but also a lot of chatting,

eating, shopping, and laughter!

And it pays to check your email - there was one from our delegate saying a lady in Wanaka had

fleece for sale (giveaway really)....so off we toodled to have a look...

got stationwagon - fill 'er up...

So a great time was had by all.... and planning underway for doing it all again, in a year's time!

Gathering post-lockdown to share craft...

Our small group gathered on Thursday
to celebrate our craft and ourselves!

We all coped with our New Zealand lockdown
to combat the disease Covid-19,
 and were thankful we had 'stashes' of fibre at home
to carry on creating....

We had a great morning catching up and planning for the future,
next month we will learn about Braids and Cords - bring some yarn to practise with.
and August will be Felting... details  to come.

Happy New Year everyone,

Last day of January already,

we did have a Social get together on Monday January 20th,
